Today’s post will be very short, since the setup used for these shots is exactly the same as was discussed two posts back. What we have is two LP160s in a octabox from camera left. The background is, again, a black piece of foamcore. Simple as that, there really aren’t many ways you can fail with a setup like this, unless you try pretty hard.
There are a couple of things which are very nice about this setup: the first is that it’s predictable, you know what kind of results you’ll get, no nasty surprises. Secondly, it’s rather portable. Granted, you’ll still have to haul your lighting setup but a 70×100 cm sheet that weighs close to nothing isn’t a lot of additional work for a good looking background. In other words you could go out in the street with just an assistant to hold your background and you would get shots that looks like they were taken in a studio. Pretty neat.
